What works
DirectX 9 version. Everything in the game worked flawlessly.
What does not
The "regular"? version. I'm assuming it means DirectX 10/11 version as the only other option is the DX 9 version here.

Playing past 100 turns. I will update when I finish my first game and report any issues I encounter.
I didn't test enabling anti-aliasing yet either. I only have an 8800 GTS.

Civ IV currently requires disabling gameux.dll. No such hack necessary for Civ V.

Also remember to disable in-game community if you are using Steam.
Installation
For best results, start with a clean wine prefix, then install vcrun2008, d3dx9_36 and vcrun6sp6 using winetricks, then install the game normally.
DirectX 11 is not currently known to work, use DirectX 9 instead.
Use of downloadable content (DLC) may eventually cause the game to crash after a number of turns. If you are experiencing consistent crashes when near the renaissance age when playing with civilizations from the DLC, disabling any DLC other than the expansion packs is advised.
