What works
SORRY FOR MY INCORRECT ENGLISH GRAMMAR.
So far what I have tested is done in HPap5000 OPOS all in one machine with my own touchscreen drivers.
I was able to get sofar...
HPap5000MSR magnetic stripe reader working...
HPap5000CustomerDisplay working...
To use the LP port you have to run wine in 98 mode or it will crash. because after Windows ME realease the future version follow a new hierachy dont remeber the name rigth now... but it does not allow direct access from user space application to a hardware without kernel as a middle man... if you do use the LP port in wine mode 2000 or higher it will try to load driver installed drivers which would operate as the middle man but it is very unlikely that it will work correctly and not to crash there for use Windows ME mode or lower with LP ports.
Also if you experience HUGE instability with OPOS LPT printers like device enabled succeeds every two time and even then it works for 5 minutes, and when it does not it hangs and crashes the entire wine server... this is caused when two drivers try to access the parallel port at the same time and the OPOS needs exclusive access so to fix this atleast in ubuntu.. run following command as root "rmmod ppdev". it unloads the ppdev driver from kernel you wont need it with OPOS it offers a direct access to LP port and it messes the OPOS up took me a week to find this out...
and DOSMARS BTP-R8500 Thermal Printer working... (instable)
had to create my own OPOS Printer Service Object based on windows spooling to get it working on a stable level.
and to run them with our CashRegister program...
even though wine apparearently is capale of running windows kernel modules in some degree with winedevice.exe dont know how havent found much info but, basicly anything that does not require wine to install any kernel drivers or to communicate with specific driver can be run through wine excluding most of the usb devices..
What does not
most of the devices that reqruires wine to communicate with specific kernel driver or to install one and most of the usb devices..
Workarounds
What was not tested
A LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF STUFF...
