What works
The game plays. Graphics are fine, no glitches or errors. Sounds works good too. Mouse and keyboard work as expected.
What does not
Cannot get the cutscenes or videos to play. Not even with installing the codecs mentioned below (Amstream, devenum, quartz and wmp10).
Without videos the game is quite annoying to play: they are an essential part of the whole game experience.

I am running Darksiders on Xubuntu 13.04 AMD64, Wine 1.74 and PlayOnLinux 4.2.1. Computer is i5 4430 with Nvidia 650 Ti Boost 2GB. Spend hours configuring Darksiders, to make the video work. Tried everything from installing WMP9, codecs, WMP10, running different Wine versions, different Windows versions, changing order of codecs installation and reinstalling Wine/PlayOnLinux. Also installed and uninstalled codecs mentioned below, reinstalled Darksiders a few times, verified Game Cache etc. Once I got to see the video's playing, but then could not see the menu anymore. After I restarted Steam (as it crashed) and installed WMP10 (again, I think?) I did not see any videos anymore. Also installed WMP 10 and played the videos manually. They play fine under WMP 10. But without the cutscenes the game is pretty annoying: you have no idea what is going on..

The game needs dx9_36 and 42 and vcron2005sp1 to run Amstream, devenum, quartz and wmp10 to enable ingame videos.
adding AllwaysoffScreen=enabled in Direct3d in registry; probably solves problems (untested as of yet)
Inside Darksiders folder create a folder with name config
On the next launch Darksiders.cfg file with extended options will be created.
