What works

The game installs, and most things work just fine.

You can click through pre-game and pre-level videos after you have seen them once.

The amount of time it takes for the flying text is normal (a shave over 1 min 43 sec) and the revolution time for a vehicle in the hangar appeared correct (2.5 seconds) .

Just about everything seems to work right, except your vehicle will not go forward during the first level, rendering the game unplayable and yielding a garbage rating because the software cannot be used for its intended purpose.

That said, if you have already progressed past the first level with an earlier version of Wine (1.3.28 or earlier), you can play just fine. But that starts to mix installations made by older Wine versions with running them in new Wine versions, and from a reporting perspective, such mixing is usually not helpful data.

Only some brake issues and the issues mentioned below were noticed, nothing else seemed an issue during the course of regular game-play (though it was played in mind for testing ; ) ).

What does not

Bug 29799 (see the bug page!):

Vehicle does not move forward at beginning of first level. In Wine 1.3.28 and earlier, you could wiggle your way out of it. But not 1.3.29 and later. Ok, I haven't tested every version between 1.3.29 and 1.4, so there's some assumption on my part, but I can say that 1.3.29, 1.3.37, 1.4 rc 1, and 1.4 rc 2 don't let you wiggle your way out of this one.

In 1.3.16, 1.3.20, 1.3.24, 1.3.26, and 1.3.28, you could wiggle your way out of it.

Bug 29797 (see the bug page!):

The blue boarder around the circular stylised scene from the selected level during level select is not smooth and is "line-y", as is the metallic boarder around the in-game "pause menu".

Bug 29796 (see the bug page!):

In addition to the "pause menu" being "line-y", it is also flickery, which is a separate bug, because in 1.3.28 we see that the metallic boarder is not "line-y", but is flickery.

I show these bugs (not so much the not moving forward one) on video here:

http://youtu.be/-D_dAHflmyU

Also, the background to the "level won" screen and the background to the thing
that says you found a bonus also is "line-y", except in Wine 1.2.28, and maybe
(haven't tested) 1.3.27.

Also, the clouds and the snowy mountains and Borvo the Hut's cargo ship's shadow
are "line-y".

Also, I don't remember if this happened during 1.4 rc 1 or 1.4 rc 2, though I suspect both:
when running the game out of a prefix in which I had gotten past level 1 from a version of
Wine before 1.3.29, when I got to the level where you first get the Trade Federaton
Gunboat, a little before I actually got the boat, the graphics glitched up, but it could have been a fluke, and again that's running
something in one version of Wine installed by a previous. But I thought I'd point
that out anyways.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Didn't go test the various options.
Couldn't get past vehicle movement, except when running from a prefix where I had already gotten past level 1, in which case I subjected it to normal game-play. I didn't go in every nook and cranny, though I did make sure to get to flying.

Additional Comments

Used clean prefix and a dedicated "bfnpast1" prefix. I tested this version of Wine with Battle for Naboo in its own prefix as well as with the prefix "bfnpast1" which I used with other versions of Wine to test them past level 1 if they couldn't get past level 1 due to the vehicle not moving forward bug. Used CDEmu to mount iso. Yes, I own a legal copy. That's what I made the iso from.
