Additional Comments

Wine-Profile: win98 - install Windows Installer 2 with the help of winetricks: "winetricks msi2" - Mount the Corel-CD - run from shell "wine cmd" - in the opened DOS-Shell change to the rootdir of the CD and .. - run the command: msiexec /i "coreldraw 10.msi" Depending on character-settings and language the setup will tell you about Files not found on the source. You can skip all the notices remembering the files an folders to copy them to the destination-folder manually later (and rename them to the correct name, if necessary). that's it :-)

Corel 10 install failed
by Vladimir Yumashev on Tuesday November 2nd 2010, 13:22
I tried to follow the instructions but received message "Installation interrupted" just in the second window of the installation sequence. May be my Corel 10 distribution CD image is not correct.

Hi Vladimir!

Did you notice my comment to the question from Raul?
Probably it would help to install the "Windows Installer 2", as I did with the help of winetricks. execute "winetricks msi2" for the wine-env. you 4 decided to install corel 10 in.

- Wine 1.3.4 compiled from source.
- Debian Lenny 32 bits.
- No previous ".wine" directory.
- Winecfg tool: Windows 98 profile selected.
- Followed Westerholt's instructions word by word.
- After one menu, an error dialog:

The wizard was interrupted before CorelDRAW 10 could be completely installed and blah blah...

Console messages:
>msiexec /i "coreldraw 10.msi"

¡Hola Raul!

Try to install the Windows Installer 2 in the used wine-profile with the help of winetricks as

# winetricks msi2

Saludos,
Thomas
Success!
by Raul RE on Sunday November 7th 2010, 7:11
That did the trick! Thank you very much!

Installation returns an error at the end (another "The wizard was interrupted..."), but it can be safely ignored. Even fonts work fine! Because text writing is something that always gave me trouble when working with Corel Draw/Photopaint under Wine.

Bye bye Virtualbox :D

Dank je! Doei!

Since winetricks doesn't have msi2 for who knows how long, then one should follow the "Hard way" on this page: wiki.winehq.org/NativeMsi

This got Corel Draw 10 installed on wine 1.6.2 for me.
