There are 3 versions:
1.0, 1.04 and 2.0. These verions don't make any noticeable difference in Wine.
The 2.0 version is NOT Empire Earth II

Tried the following winetricks: d3dx9, directx9, dinput8, directmusic, relatively high video memory size crashes at splash screen instead of displaying a long period of time (256+) GPU: Ge Force 9600 GT @ Nouveau Driver CPU: Core 2 Quad @ 2.83 Ghz RAM: 4 GB

Running the game:
-Use the native msvcrt.dll
-disable DirectMusic
do this by setting the following Registry key to "0":
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SSSI\Empire Earth\Music Enabled
To allow EE to find the CD you should open winecfg and add a drive mapping, setting it to CDROM.

I used:

Then just did a normal install. I have not gotten it to work properly outside of an emulation mode - seems to have trouble with the screen resolution when run outside emulation. Mouse speed works fine in this mode - game is definitely playable.
If the patch 1.00 - 1.04 patch is installed, the mouse stops working. If the expansion is installed, Empire Earth still works fine, but the expansion does not work.
Anyone had any success getting the expansion to work?
