Manage a music library from 100 to 50,000+ audio files and playlists*; whether Rock, Classical, Audiobooks, or Podcasts; whether they’re located on your hard drive, CDs, or a network. Organize, browse, or search music by Genre, Artist, Year, Rating, etc., and never waste your time trying to find mp3s you know you have.
MediaMonkey is the music organizer for the serious collector.
Media playback in mp3 and ogg format works.* See extra comments for MP3 Playback.
Visualizations worked with Milkdrop by default.
Default scripts work.
Deleting files, editing tag's, saving id3 info works.
What does not
Library view does not work by default. IE6 must be installed, gecko did not work properly. This appears to be an issue with the default Gecko browser and SHDOCVW.DLL.
When switching from foreground to background, screen seems to resize and take a minute to orient itself.
mmip script installers do not properly show the dialog box showing installation. Just hitting enter installs the script, then the OK box shows. VB Scripts added in are buggy, and the application needs to be restarted if they fail.
What was not tested
CD ripping and encoding.
Followed some of the instructions here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Linux,_Wine_%26_MediaMonkey This doc has not been updated in some time. The information I have used so far is the MAD plugin for MP3 playback, and the Media Serial Key info because I keep my database on a removable drive with the music. Use wintricks (installed with the newest version of wine on ubuntu) to install ie6, this resolved the skin issues I had with the library not displaying.
