SR 3D Builder

This version has been given different parameters for higher cross-compatibility, specifically only made available at the SR3D forums for this purpose. In most other ways it is the same as 0.5.5.3, which can effectively be considered the better-supported Windows version. In other words, there's a sort-of-forking of the project currently. But it's not open source. At least not yet.

What works

The majority of the app appears to function just as well as in Windows (it is still in development)

What does not

Some pieces in my test model do not get rendered. This may be a bug in the app.

Various pieces from Lego Digital Designer generated LDraw files will render in the wrong orientations or positions. This is the fault of Lego Digital Designer.

I am not yet well versed in the use of this program due to its quirky interface layout. There may be other issues which I am unaware of, please feel free to raise them either as WINE bugs if you're confident they are WINE related, or in this thread:  http://sr3d.spoonclan.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=33&sid=5015d9755542eb357773c43cd2d0f14e  or this thread: http://sr3d.spoonclan.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=11  where the problem can be discussed with the developer in the appropriate place.

Workarounds

What was not tested

More advanced functions, use for long periods, instructions generation (has dependencies unfulfilled (LPub))

Additional Comments

I noted with 0.5.5.2 that using gdiplus, Wine is able to run SR3D, albeit with many glitches and 1001 ways to crash it. It's hard to tell whether SR3D is still reliant on Winetricks-installed Windows components at this point, albeit more stably, as I can't remember whether I still have them installed or not. I'd like some other users to provide more thorough tests with fresh and crispy Wine installs please, this one is more just as an acknowledgement of the current state of affairs.
