What works
Install from Steam, install directX 9 from Steam on first attempt to play, starts from Steam. Played through entire game. And the rest of the other games in the series.
What does not
Once the descriptions of the intractable items disappeared but they came back once I exited the scene. I lost music and sound once after about 20 min of play, but it was back after restarting the game. Once while exiting the screen was just blank and I had to reboot.
