Additional Comments

Installed VCrun2005/2008/2010 and d3dx9 using wintricks. Manual like Manu did didn work for me, tried other recommendation nothing. Finally i installed BP also in a VMware XP, updated there and copied the updated files to my linux install. Not the easiest way, but it worked! Set Wine to emulate 1680x1050 desktop (that is max res for me) Started the game from the terminal (wine BlackProphecy.exe -config system_Shinava.xml) and runs like a charm fullscreen, no mouse issues btw.. Working Patcher/Launcher - Shell Script

I just wrote a little Patcher since the official doesn't run in wine:

https://github.com/Manu311/BlackProphecy-Patcher/raw/master/patch.sh

Just download the file and place it into your Black Prophecy Root Directory

It downloads and looks for your patch files in the (not existing) directory: Patches which will be generated at first use. If you've already downloaded some patches, I recommend you put those there.

If you have any  advice for my script, just inform me, I'm not used to shell-scripts very much.

HOWTO Patch and Play Black Prophecy without the Launcher

1. Compile wine with the newest patch from: 6971 so you can use the mouselook.

2. Get a clean wineprefix and use winetricks to install: vcrun2010 vcrun2005 d3dx9

3. Move all installation files (currently setup.exe and multiple setup-**.bin) into one directory and start setup.exe with wine

4. After installation, switch to the game directory (not BIN/WIN**/)

5. Download all patches you need which are currently listed in: http://patcher.blackprophecy.com/PatchInfos2.xml (it's not needed to place the patches in this directory, just easier to handle)

6. Execute the patches in order with BIN/WIN**/RTpatch.exe BP_****.rtp

7. If everything went well, (you're free to delete the patches,) change dir into BIN/WIN** and execute the game with: wine BlackProphecy.exe -config system_Shinava.xml

Mouselook does not work on 0.8.9
by Bartosz Kwitniewski on Friday January 28th 2011, 14:59
Mouselook does not work for me on 0.8.9. Cursor is visible but after entering mouse control it does not work, I'm not even able to shoot with LMB.

I have tried newest patch from bug 6971 on wine 1.3.12, older patch on wine 1.3.7 but it still does not work. Patch is applied for sure because I can see XInput2 symbols in winex11.drv.so. Game is unplayable on keyboard. :

Same here - tried 1.3.12 and .13 with and without xinput2 patch. Also tried good olde MouseWarpOverride. Nothing helps - not even LMB works …

You made some progress with it ?

Any luck with it yet ?

I didn't even try anything else. I dont' think playing this game will make any sense in a long term because company ignores its community by not fixing critical bug. 17-page wide forum thread, many months and still no fix - blackprophecy.gamigo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6276 I'm not able to run this game at all under Windows. So, if anything ever breaks in the future You will be on Your own with fixing the game by reverse engineering because nobody cares.

Mods are sending me mass messages in that forum and trying to find the issue. My problem is just: they want dxdiag log, and wine doesn't really run dxdiag on my machine (at least not the updated version). And if I use an older version there are lot of informations which wouldn't help those windows programmers a lot (like display driver: x11 whatever ^^).
They're meanwhile trying to fix it I think, but they should find some help from some1 who actually has windows (and the issue) not me :P.

If not this directory, then which directory. Of would you prefer we just randomly picked on. Perhaps, /dev/null? ...

To say it in default Windows-Directory:
C:\Program Files\Black Prophecy\
instead of:
C:\Program Files\Black Prophecy\BIN\WIN**\

what's hard to understand about that?
Script stuff
by Asharin on Thursday December 16th 2010, 13:34
Your script works nicely, thanks!
One slight alteration would make it even better, make it download the next patch (if there is another available) rather than saying 'All done' even when there are more patches.

Other than that awesome work :)

I somehow had a bug in it, I reset the variable just after I set it, and after that I checked if it still contains something, stupid me :P
I think I fixed it now.
I also fixed a bug with the Patches Directory, it should now try to create the directory if it NOT exists, not if it exists ;).

Excellent, works nicely now.

Just a shame that BP won't run :) I get CRT errors :/
Ah well! I'll work on it.
RE: Script stuff

Did you try to set all grafic options to minimum? I am unable since 0.8.8 but I don't get CRTs, I get just nothing :P - like many windows users. But I was able to play it inside a vmware, so it's hardware dependant I guess.
CRT Error
by Jacob McGown on Saturday November 20th 2010, 13:35
After login, a CRT Error occurs right after "Received worlds"

This seems to be global to most Beta Users, so it can't really be reported as a Wine issue.
0.8.8_0 not working
by Manu on Friday November 19th 2010, 11:44
Todays patch 0.8.8_0 isn't working for me, patching worked fine, just the game doesn't.
The game stops doing anything after the intro. Wine doesn't through any error, the gamelog does.
I'm gone from my desktop, so I won't post any results for a week.
