What works
Steam and Half-life install.
The game sometimes loads, the menu sometimes operates, the training level sometimes starts to play through.
What does not
It is completely unplayable on my machine. (Macbook2,1 IntelCore2Duo 1 Gig RAM Intel GMA950 graphics, running Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit).
It usually does not launch, and gives no error message as to why. If it does launch, it does not play the intro videos. Software rendering mode gives me about one frame every five seconds (I'm not exaggerating). OpenGL works a lot faster, but it is very flickery. The initial fullscreen graphic of Gordon Freeman is superimposed on everything, and will not go away. Any other game output flickers, competing with that graphic.
