Maintainers: About Maintainership
What works
Pretty much everything.
Runs fluently without lags or peripheral problems.
BioSys.exe will only run if in wineconfig Windows Version 95 or 98 are selected for it.
Double-click BioSys.exe or type "wine BioSys.exe" (see HOWTO 2 below) and it will start.
What does not
Five problems occur, the first two have a solution (see HOWTO for solutions, see screenshots for examaples):
1. Videos will not play !
If started after Installation unchanged, the videos will sound and look very scrambled.
Solution in HOWTO.
2. Path Issue
If BioSys.exe is opened from Nautilus with a double click it works, but if you type "wine /path/to/application/BioSys.exe" BioSys will have a severe "Overlay Problem". All "removable objects", those which are normaly dislayed in front of the "background" graphic, will neither be visible nor "touchable". Also the "Bio/Sys 4"-GUI does not work. This is a "Present working directory" issue since the Readme.txt points out screenshots will be saved in the present working directory the program is aware of this variable which will differ from the Biosys folder if you type start it with "wine /path/to/application/BioSys.exe". I suspect BioSys.exe searches for some files in the present working directory which it cannot find there.
Solution in HOWTO.
3. Some Displays don't work
The In-Game displays seem to share the same engine but only some of them
(biome sensors and surface equipment controls) work. Almost all
displays in the service basements (tide machine is the only exception I
found) show neither status bars nor data in numbers. (May be related to
4)
4. Font colour
Some (not all !) non-static writings in the game have black as font colour, which is not optimal since most backgrounds are dark themselves. Under Windows they mostly have green or red as font colour. (This does NOT apply to
the "Bio/Sys 4"-GUI).

Additional Comments
Since it seems based on the same technology as Myst many technological correlations might be the same.
