What works

Installation, most menus, sound, input (keyboard, mouse & joystick).

Game play: Instant Action, Single Mission

What does not

Input dialogs are not responsive to keyboard or mouse so some screens do not work. In particular, you cannot customize the keyboard bindings (manually edit the ~/ThirdWire/StrikeFighters2/Controls/Default.INI file instead) and you cannot create campaigns.

I have to run the program from the installation directory (wine StrikeFighters2.exe). Running using any sort of path fails to start the game.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Campaign play (could not create a campaign).

(There is no multiplayer in the SF2 series.)

Additional Comments

Installed using Wine 1.2.2 built using the SlackBuild from SlackBuilds.org (including the DIB engine patches). Unlike First Eagles Gold I did not need to run winetricks d3dx9 to get game play (3D) to work. Still runs fine with d3dx9 installed. User files are created in ~/ThirdWire/StrikeFighters2. Desktop environment is XFCE. Graphics card is Nvidia 8600 GT using Nvidia drivers.
