The game. Seems fully playable. Highest settings. Speeds fine. Fancy in game 3D UI works. Shooting stuff. Blowing off limbs. No noticeable glitches or bugs. No patches needed.
What does not
Leaving the window (Alt+Tab or Print Screen which loads an app in Ubuntu) causes the game to freeze up. It refuses to let you select it when clicking on it in the task bar. If you right click then choose close you do get a confirm dialog. I couldn't reproduce (although I didn't try a full wine erase). If a joypad is plugged in, character always looks up (even when I unplugged it after starting the game.).
What was not tested
Playing from start to finish (I played up to chapter 2 without issues).
The first time I played the game opened in a tiny square box up the top left corner (like 100x100 pixels tiny). The second time it started fine in a low res (possibly below 640x480) and the maximum resolution selectable was 1360x768 finally after I set that, quit and restarted it allow me to do a full 1920x1200. This might have been a problem caused by trying to start some other game that didn't work confusing the video stuff, before Dead Space. However I have seen similar mentions of resolution problems in the entries for the 1.0 version release (although using older versions of Wine). It did work fine for me just needed a few restarts. I have applied a few winetricks for other stuff but I don't think there needed for Dead Space. d3dx10 and the ones recommended for steam (corefonts allfonts tahoma gecko gecko-dbg vcrun2005).
