- PDFs can be read - Comments can be written - Saving occasionally works
What does not
- Scrolling is rather poor -- screen refreshes only after movement has stopped - Spontaneous runtime errors (usually after about 2 minutes of use) - Opening the preferences menu causes focus to shift to the menu, but the menu is hidden behind the main window (and seems to be forced on top), hence making the program unusable from that point on (killing the process is the only option) - Opening any extra window aside from the main reader screen (after opening a PDF) increases the chance of unresponsiveness
What was not tested
Extra features beside basic PDF viewing and annotation.
Installed Windows XP SP3 version of Adobe Reader 10.1.1. Initial start-up prompted to disable "Protected Mode", which is the only way the program could initiate. The initial start-up is fairly delayed due to the opening of the "Terms and Conditions", and feels like a crash when in reality it is running, albeit slowly. Installation Workaround: After the automatic extraction is performed by the downloaded .exe from Adobe's website, one must go to the extraction directory and manually run the .msi file under the "users/Public/Application Data/Adobe/Setup" folder.
