Age of Empires II

What works

Everything should work. The campaign was tested, cheats worked- those that i could remember!!! -and over all things ought to procced as normal throughout the game.

What does not

Nothing has shown to NOT work... as far as i've tested...

It does have a small issue with the text in which it's black entirely- making it rather tough to read -and the custom cursor in the campaign blinks whenever you move it around but it doesn't ghost image itself into the screen of the player...

So those these are minor glitchs and "d'oh's" it shouldn't effect over-all game play.

Additional Comments

It works fine as far as I know... Edit: DO NOT USE THE DESKTOP ICON, if you wish to play the game click 'Age of Empires II.LNK' the LNK is what gets you into the game.

Multiplayer
To get multiplayer working you have to use by now the directplay libraries from microsoft, still (since 2006) no open source libraries for direct play that include libraries to open sockets and close to play games, so install winetricks:

(in ubuntu/debian) sudo apt-get install winetricks

and then exec:
winetricks directplay

It will download the directplay libraries from microsoft and install them, that's all, tcp/ip will work with direct connect.

If you get only a black screen upon starting a game

• after wine 2.13, fix it with winetricks ddr=gdi (see https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43627)
• after wine 3.2, fix it with winetricks csmt=off (see https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44796)
