You have to install the Steam for Windows through wine. It's necessary to start Stream with the -no-dwrite, since dwrite primitives are not yet implemented in wine, otherwise you won't see any Steam label, you'll see a user interface without text. Since version 1.7.1 isn't available in Debian amd64, I've built it on my computer. You have to be particularly careful with dependencies. For example on my amd64 machine, I had to install i386 dev libraries. But for example libasound2-dev:i386 depends on on libopus0:i386 which is not multiarch yet. I had to patch myself libopup0 to successufully install libasound2-dev:i386. But, if oss4-dev is installed without oss4 being actually installed, you'll probably end up in a wine built without sound working, and without wine buid issuing any warning. Performances are good enough, but while my laptop display is 1366x768, I play in 800x600 and with rendering quality 'very-high'. So the image is a bit blurred, but with full effects, which is quite satisfing. My card is Mobility Radeon 53XX (Cedar), and I'm using the free Gallium driver.
