What works

  • installation
  • intro videos, cutscene
  • playing the demo @1440x900 resolution on low details
  • audio using ALSA full hw. acceleration
  • rendering, visuals are okay (except shadows; they're blocky)
  • saving and loading
  • mouse & keyboard
  • changing the screen resolution, detail level etc.

What does not

  • subtitles and the loading bar are missing on the briefing screen without native gdiplus.dll
  • performance is slow (even on the lowest details)

Workarounds

What was not tested

  • completing the demo; I've played only the first mission
  • playing the demo on the highest details including anti-aliasing

Additional Comments

The demo will install a bunch of d3dx* and xact* libraries by default; actually, only native d3dx9_36 is required to start the game. Native gdiplus.dll is needed otherwise text and the loading bar are missing on the briefing screen. Performance: slow (maybe my hardware can't cope with it) Stability: no issues AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ Nvidia GeForce 250 GTS / driver 260.19.36 3 GB Ram Kernel 2.6.37
