First person shooter released in 1998. Based on the Quake2 engine. This games works great in Wine 20040505. (I have only tested the software renderer and have not tested the multiplayer mode or finished the whole game.) The installer does not seem to run using wine, but one can simply copy the data dir to the hard drive and run the game from there. The intro and ending movies requires Windows Media Player to play but it is possible to run the game without them (just move them out of the movies directory) and play them using a stand alone player. I suggest running the game in \"Managed\" mode and not \"Desktop\", otherwise the game does not display fullscreen properly. The version tested is the budget release by Xplosiv. HowTo / Notes

Note
If some underground sections are impassable or you get stuck (with screen shaking), try changing the video settings (resolution, etc).

Version 1.11 from GOG.com includes nGlide wrapper (0.99) from Zeus Software which allows "3DFx opengl" driver setting to be used.  There is a delay when switching to the desktop and back when using nGlide.

Currently the generic "default OpenGL" driver setting segfaults.  Setting "MaxVersionGL" in the Wine registry to 10003 or earlier for the OpenGL versions that were standard when the game was released does not correct the problem.

There are a few bugs in the game and the add-on, some of which prevent completion of the game.  The console command "noclip" can be used to continue past them.  Some community mods reportedly fix these and other errors.

The game is reportedly available on Steam as part of SiN Episodes: Emergence.
