What works

  • Logging in
  • Character selection (partially)
  • Flying and shooting (with patch)
  • Station services

What does not

  • There's just the messed up polygons instead of characters in all windows including character selection, station dealers and NPC communications
  • Vertical crosschair movement is limited to approximately half of screen
  • Mouse scroll works only in menus and other windows in mouse mode, not for ship controls

Workarounds

What was not tested

  • Prologue missions (i'm too lazy to create a new character for test).

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU:
  • Driver:

Additional Comments

Mouse works better with the same patch in wine 1.3.14. Rating Bronze because of patching needed and other mouse issues.

Working Patcher/Launcher - Shell Script

I just wrote a little Patcher since the official doesn't run in wine:

https://github.com/Manu311/BlackProphecy-Patcher/raw/master/patch.sh

Just download the file and place it into your Black Prophecy Root Directory

It downloads and looks for your patch files in the (not existing) directory: Patches which will be generated at first use. If you've already downloaded some patches, I recommend you put those there.

If you have any  advice for my script, just inform me, I'm not used to shell-scripts very much.

OpenCL and AMD

It looks like 1.3.18 has OpenCL support. I grabbed OpenCL libraries from her (I have an ATI HD 5xxx (forums.amd.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=125792&enterthread=y) i'm not sure if it's related, but together with the patches, i had the most luck with OpenCL installed.

Working Vertex Blending patch
by Alex @ e-dimensionz, Inc on Thursday April 21st 2011, 20:17
Hi guys, please see here for a working vertex blending patch for 1.3.18 as of April 21, 2001. It fixes the character faces and the weird "disco ball" colors in the sky. It creates different artifacts though sadly...

git apply file.patch

Are you sure your login data is correct? Maybe try it on vmware windows or a normal windows.
I can edit the script, but I can't test it myself, since I'm still not able to play ....

Sounds like my script isn't patching correct.
I keep my version of Black Prophecy up2date and I have 1.0.0.6.
Could you please post me the content of the "version" file inside the same folder as the patch.sh file? Should be the main Black Prophecy directory (if not my script can't work).
It should be: "BP_1.0.0.6"

Character Models Work With Patch
by Quinn Strahl on Thursday March 31st 2011, 11:51
The reason the character models don't show up is because wine lacks vertex blending support. This is a common issue in many games running under wine. If you patch your wine for vertex blending, they show up just fine.

With the mouse patch and vertex blending, this game runs with Gold status.

Here's the vertex blending patch for wine 1.3.6 - I manually patched the hunks that failed for 1.3.14, but if someone could update this patch for 1.3.14, that'd be swell. I don't know enough about patch syntax to do it myself.

For now, though, it's worth nothing that both patches work with 1.3.6, and the game runs juuuust fine. =)
commandline parameter
by Manu on Wednesday March 2nd 2011, 18:25
Since the open beta is out now, I think the commandline changed, so my script isn't working any more?
I'm not sure, I can't test if it's starting BP correctly (since I have a very popular BP Bug with Blackscreen after intro). So could someone tell me which commandline parameter I should use in the patcher posted here? I assume this:
Old: -config system_Shinava.xml
New?: -config system_Kemmura.xml
if it's right, please tell me, so I can edit the script for the open beta - thanks.
RE: commandline parameter
by Denis Misiurca on Wednesday March 2nd 2011, 18:38
I use:

env LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 wine ./BIN/WIN32/BlackProphecy.exe -config system_Shinava.xml
RE: commandline parameter
by Manu on Wednesday March 2nd 2011, 18:47
so it's still working with system_Shinava.xml? then my script will still work - thanks.
