What works
Installing through Steam. Starting with a Wine prefix I use to play Hearts of Iron 3: Starting the game, nothing happens after the initial opening picture. Starting with a clean Wine prefix: After installing vcrun2005, vcrun2008 and d3dx9 through winetricks and copying d3dx11_42.dll to system32-folder and setting it (native,builtin) [The dll was mentioned in terminal output as missing.] the game still doesn't even start up.

Opening videos, menu, the game itself. Anything past opening picture.
