Version available to all Steam uses on launch date. Games that are available on the Steam platform are updated on a fairly frequent basis, not necessarily in synch with actual retail patches.
Pretty much everything in game.I only had to use winetricks to download msasn1.dll and wintrust.dll. I did not have to do anything special to get working sound.
What does not
I keep having to verify the game cache integrity in Steam, otherwise it crashes. Sound also has a nasty tendency to get sped up and I have to reboot my system to get it back to sounding sane, but once in game, everything seems to run properly.
What was not tested
Larger multiplayer games with lots of units.
I used a 32-bit 1.4 release. May work with x86_64 as well, but while troubleshooting the game crashes (which turned out to be due to the dll's and the game file getting corrupted) I switched over and I'm now leaving well enough alone.
