What does not

DoW2R empties the file "content.cat" on its own everytime it starts, so you need to copy it back from a backup location everytime before you start the game in Steam (or it will crash on startup).
If the file is already zero bytes, you can fix it by "verifying your local game cache" in Steam.

Explosions and smoke look a little bit blocky instead of smooth.
