What works

Installer: It checks what version of Windows you are using. Wine was set to emulate Windows XP in my case, but the installer complained that I was using an unsupported version of Windows and that I had to change Windows version. I changed the Wine setting to Windows NT 4.0 and it worked fine. The installer seems to do the same in Windows, so no bug here.

Game: Gameplay works with a few glitches.

What does not

Installer:

It lists both variants of Chinese (simplified and traditional) as "Chinese" without specifying which is which.

Game:

No sound.

When typing something, the characters sometimes end up in another program running in the background: Linux doesn't see the game as the current active process, although the game hides other programs. Part of the screen hidden by the Ubuntu menu and taskbar, although the game is supposed to be running in fullscreen mode.

The game changes the screen resolution to 640x480 pixels and won't change back to normal until I manually go to my display settings (just exiting the game is not enough). I even tried restarting the X server and I still had to go to the display settings.

When pressing Alt-TAB, it is not possible to change back to PSO (it is not seen as any of the open windows) but it still hides whatever window is supposed to be active when I'm releasing the Alt key.

Workarounds

What was not tested

At the end of the stage, I got a telepipe item. I don't know if there was supposed to be a way to use it, but I couldn't find out how to. There might be something I missed because of that.

I only tested the default Japanese language setting. Additionally, I only tried it using a Japanese locale (Linux LANG environmental variable set to ja_JP.UTF-8). Some Japanese games are picky when it comes to locale settings.
