What works

  • Install - but you need to combine discs 1 & 2 for both CCG and ZH by copying the .cab from disc 2 into the folder you extracted disc 1 into.
  • Skirmish (played many, many games at this point, many with 7 Hard AIs + me on an 8 player map). All generals and units work and it handles large numbers of units
  • Multiplayer on LAN (works both linux vs linux, and linux vs windows)

What does not

  • You will definitely need a no-cd crack. Disk detection doesn't work.
  • You might need to install the 32-bit libmpg123
  • You might need to create "My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\options.ini" manually (see the ZH thread for more details
  • You might need to install d3dx9 with winetricks
  • You might need to disable the GLSL shaders in wine config

What was not tested

The "minigames" that Shockwave replaced Generals Challenges with.

Hardware tested

  • GPU:
  • Driver:

Additional Comments

On my desktop (which is what this report is for) everything went beautifully and I had no issues. However, on my laptop, I had to use those workarounds I mentioned in the "what does not work". Figured they were worth mentioning.
