Install QuickTime 2.02 (…\winconfig\setup.exe) first. It will complain about being unable to create a Program Manager group (minor), followed by a warning about an incomplete installation because of it.
Then execute promland.exe to start the game.
The Big Log executable is big_log.exe on its CD.
The game, The Big Log, and QuickTime processes don't terminate when exited. Their processes are named "Sample" or "Movie Player". Terminate them with top, htop, or your desktop task manager.
