HOWTO: Disable IPv6 on Ubuntu

1. Open up your Grub File

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

 
2. Search for 
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX

 
3.Modify line to look like so
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="ipv6.disable=1"

 
4. update grub use one of the commands depending on what grub version you have
sudo update-grub2
or
sudo update-grub
 
5. Restart computer for changes to take effect.
