The game can be played all the way through. Hunting works, river crossings work, rafting down the Columbia works.
What does not
There may be a broken opening animation; there is audio, but no video prior to the starting screen. You can skip straight to the start screen by pressing escape twice. The game redraws poorly in the new game dialog, the store purchasing dialog, the trading dialog, and the diary (pretty much anything with a drop-down or a text box). In most cases, you can work around the poor redraws by repositioning the dialog off the screen, releasing it, and returning it to an on-screen location. For the shopping dialog, select a purchasing category, and the inventory area will be redrawn. You can also learn where the buttons are, and blind-click them.
What was not tested
Shooting the rapids.
You must be running WINE in 32-bit mode (WINEARCH=win32) if your WINE would otherwise be running in 64-bit mode. If it is in 64-bit mode, Quicktime will not install as part of the game installation, and the game will be unplayable (you won't be able to cross rivers). You may have to delete or rename any existing .wine directory you have in order to get your WINE set up for 32-bit operation.
