DesignCAD 3D MAX

What works

2D mode seems to work as far as window position is concerned. Did not test functions extensively, as this is primarily a 3D CAD, and would be easily replaced by a stable 2D CAD if only 2D functions were available. The main purpose of this program is to design and render in 3D.

What does not

The window images in 3D mode seem to render correctly, but they overlay eachother all over the screen. Their sizes and positions are wrong -- they wipe out the control toolbars in some areas and these don't get refreshed so there are holes. If oyu can switch to 2D mode, things seem to correct themselves.

What was not tested

Because the 3D mode is unusable at present and because toolbars are partially lost, further functional testing wasn't possible. However, if the 3D windowing could be corrected there's a good chance this app would run.

Additional Comments

I purchased this older program through ebay because of an earlier more positive test result report. However the comment about "odd screen refreshes" are understated -- at least in this wine version, they render the program unusable for the intended purpose. I've also tested DesignCAD 3D Max 15 version with the same results. It seems that if the windowing problem could be overcome, many versions may work.
