What works

Installation now is a simple SFX exe file and not an installer, thus no more issues with the empty VERSION issue. TRIM works as expected.

As the installation process was changed, SRIM2011 need some pre-requisites to run from Winetricks.

What does not

nothing so far

Additional Comments

The installation issue workround does not apply here: installation is a simple extraction of a SFX archive. Please see the howto on how to install

HowTo / Notes

3-D plots
During a TRIM calculation, look at the lower-left menu for instructions about how to display 3-D plots. Usually, it is helpful to suspend the TRIM calculation while doing this by pressing "PAUSE" at the top of the window.
HOWTO

Please install the following using winetricks
$> winetricks  comdlg32ocx msflxgrd richtx32 vb5run comctl32ocx

then navigate to llation-directory>/SRIM-Setup

and register TabCtl32.ocx using:

$> regsvr32 TabCtl32.ocx

in the near future will be possible to install tabctl32 with winetricks too.

Supporting routines for SRIM

SUPPORTING ROUTINES TO THE SRIM-CODE

Márius Pavlovič and Ivan Strašík

Please see http://www.nuc.elf.stuba.sk/srim/ for SRIM supporting routines:

  • A beam generation module - prepares SRIM input data
  • Statistical modules - process SRIM output data
  • A beam-transport module - performs matrix transformations of SRIM output data, calculates and displays some ion-optical parameters of the particle set and enables data-exchange between the SRIM-code and beam-transport codes
  • A file conversion module - converts SRIM output data to SRIM input data.

The code comes in a .EXE Windows third party code, and to date it's still untested on Wine. Reports and reviews are welcome.
