It's possible to play the entire Myth 1 campaign, with briefings and everything, as a plugin for Myth 2:
This might seem round-about and a little silly, but the Myth 2 engine works better and is better maintained than Myth 1.
If nothing else it's an alternative worth noting if you can't get Myth 1 to work directly ;)

Animated cutscenes (the mission briefings work fine though). Flavour-text for units also appearing in Myth 2 is that of the sequel, not Myth 1.

Additional Comments

Game tends to slow down after about 30 minutes on my computer, at which point the sound will cut out. This can be fixed by quickly saving and reloading, but is still rather annoying.
