Additional Comments

I didn't have any problems with installing the game (I've done that several times before geting it to work). The installation went smooth I've just inserted dvd 2 when it was needed and it just worked. To install the patches I had to use: winedbg (then type 'cont'+ ENTER to start the process) also if you have installed patch 1.1 and then you run Launcher game should update itself to version 1.2 (I remember that it did happen before). To get the game running I had to use this: winetricks vcrun2010 d3dx9_36 glsl=disabled also I'm using Open Sound System instead of ALSA and PulseAudio and to make sound working I had to disable vmix (mixer of the OSSv4) in the ossxmix. It's probably good to add this to your user.reg: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D] "UseGLSL"="disabled" "VideoDescription"="NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT" "VideoDriver"="nv4_disp.dll" "VideoMemorySize"="512" of course set it appropriately to your hardware configuration. My test system is as follows: -CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @ 2,3GHZ -VGA:nVidia 9600 GT OC 512MB -NVIDIA Driver Version 275.09.07 -RAM:GeIL Ultra DDRII 2GB/800 (2 x 1GB) Unfortunately the performance is very low I get 5 to 10 fps on my machine. I'm running it fulscreen 1280x1024 and with medium settings. My graphic card is below the minimum requirements but not very much and there are people using it to play this game on Windows with success. If you want to now your exact fps use this: WINEDEBUG=fps wine witcher2.exe 2>&1 | tee /dev/stderr | grep --line-buffered "^trace:fps:" | osd_cat you can do it also with Launcher.exe (or any other game). To make it work I had to install xosd-bin in Ubuntu.
