I am using Wine 3.6 Staging and DNF steam version is running without a hitch. I did have problems with an older version of Wine showing the grey over the screen.
No platinum when winetracks has been used

I cannot confirm (I have the retail version purchased over Steam) that this game is platinum-level as it crashes on actual game start (starting new campaign).
Unplayable due to uncontrollabe mouse behaviour
by Werner Lehmann on Monday January 11th 2016, 16:01
I applied the above mentioned winetricks and the game starts fine, but the mouse behaviour is uncontrollable which makes the game unplayable. But without native dinput8 the game won't start at all.
