What works

Installer/Launcher/Updating game content.

What does not

Starting the Game.

Tried winetricks ie7 ie8 wininet winhttp d3dx9_36, nothing helped. This also appears to be a common issue with windows users.  I tried several things posted in the Eden Eternal forums such as removing _Launcher.exe, setting graphics to low, different win versions, etc.  Nothing helped.

The launcher just simply exits when pressing start.  I would say crash, but there is no output/debug spew.

HowTo / Notes

May need unusable WINE DLL Overrides

As indicated here:http://www.aeriagames.com/forums/en/viewtopic.php?t=1230285

May need these DLLs:
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 wininet.dll
regsvr32 oleault32.dll
regsvr32 advapi32.dll
regsvr32 kernel32.dll
regsvr32 ws2_32.dll

Which have been known to cause bug managers to close bugs as invalid giving the reason "You have too many DLLs."
