I never got around to filing a new status update until now, but this game started working without patches by I think wine 1.5.16 for those who need an older version for any reason. Git release past 1.5.19 definitely works perfectly for me at present. I seem to recall the audio working fine with the 3rd party pulse patches too, for those who require it instead of vanilla.
