What works

A) Installing the game with a third party installer

B) Playing all levels works flawlessly - Rocket Ball, Rocket War, & Rocket Race

What does not

A) Installing with the original installer on the CD.  You must download the third party installer to install this game in WinXP or WINE.  See comments below for link.

B) Sometimes when you quit the game it will not exit properly back to the Linux desktop and WINE may throw an error at you.  It's not a big deal and seems to be intermittent.  I have found that running the game in Windows95 mode mitigates this.

What was not tested

Multiplayer - The third party installer automatically loads the Rockey Jockey LAN patch, but I have not yet tested it.

Additional Comments

Third party installer can be found at: Make sure you mount the CD to your filesystem before executing the downloaded installer as it's going to look for it in your D: To install Rocket Jockey on WinXP or in Linux via Wine you can launch the RJSETUP.EXE downloaded from the link above along with the original CD in the optical drive. The RJSETUP.EXE file is a custom made installer compatible with WinXp and also automatically installs the LAN patch. Note: Regardless of whether you're using WinXP or Wine make sure to set the compatibility mode for JOCKEY.EXE to Windows95 for best results. To play without inserting the CD, simply copy the contents of the entire CD to any location on your hard drive. Then use REGEDIT and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > SEGASOFT > ROCKET JOCKEY > 1.0 and change the CD-ROM DIRECTORY from D:\ to whatever the location is on your hard drive that you created. Wine users must do one more step to play without CD. You have to open WINECFG and assign a drive letter to the directory. For example, assign a drive letter of H: to the directory you created and change the CD-ROM DIRECTORY field to H:\ in Wine REGEDIT. NOTE: If you use the No-CD method you will not be able to listen to the awesome soundtrack on the CD during gameplay as it won't even look at the real CD-ROM drive.
