True Crime: New York City

What works

Game is barely playable. I managed to start the game played the tutorial and got into the first mission. I saved the game and reloaded it as well.  I think I will shelf this game for now. It doesn't seem to be well built regardless of which OS you are using.

What does not

Installation Issues 

To install, I had to copy all three CDs contents to my HD in a folder and installed from there. CD ROM works but the installer couldn't find disk 2 after multiple attempts.

Audio Issues

Once started cut scene has no audio, this could be from a missing codec?

Control and Game Play

Game play and control was very sluggish.  Some keys were unresponsive to commands. Joystick mapped too, but cross controlled not one button made any sense.  I ended up unplugging my joystick, running wine regedit, and delete the mapping under this setting;

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\DirectInput\Mappings

that seems to corrected the key assignment.

I bought this at the mall from one of those bargain bins. I only paid $5 but that might be too much for this game.
