This is a Rom Management app for emulator roms (I.E. for MAME, Nesticle, etc). It has functionality that allows for keeping track of what roms are outdated for your (new) version of an emulator, missing rom data, etc. Not sure if there is any open source equivalent for this functionality, though I know there are at least a couple of open source  rom management apps.

What works

Nothing that I've tested so far.

What does not

 1) "Xml error: OLE error 80004005" with abort button.

 2) "Runtime Error!

        Program C:\Program Files\Romcenter\romcenter.exe

An application has attempted to load the C runtime library incorrectly"

    3) "Can't load library: C:\Program Files\Romcenter\fbclient.dll"

 And then it starts

Loading a datafile (File, New, ~Load rom from datafile):

      1) "Runtime Error!

      Program: C:\Program Files\Romcenter\gfix.exe

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly."

         2) "Program: C:\Program Files\Romcenter\romcenter.exe

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly."

And then it doesn't appear to be able to load the file.

The previous test mentioned changing the temp file location from preferences or in romcenter.ini. There doesn't appear to be any ini files immediately after install, and I can't create one because file > preferences is grayed out. Based on this it looks like this new version doesn't work out of the box. I'd be interested to know if there are any workarounds for this. I don't have access to a windows cd, so hopefully there is a workaround that doesn't involve using microsoft dll's.

What was not tested

Anything I haven't mentioned testing already.

Additional Comments

Choosing bronze was iffy here, it installs and runs, but it doesn't seem to "work" with the out of the box config, nor is it as simple as changing an (already present) ini file. Admin note: rating changed to conform to the rating definitions.
