It seems to work, formerly dimensions did not display properly but now they do. To print as .eps install cup-pdf from synaptic and when printing choose PDF and tick 'print to file'. The .eps file can then be opened in gimp and converted to say .png.
What does not
Installation from optical disk did not work (permissions error) - therefore copy disk contents to system disk (then eject optical disk) and issue chmod -R 755 to set entire folder contents (to get executable permissions) then run set.exe under WINE.
Very important: move contents of
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files/Autodesk Shared
OR fix this using regedit as detailed in Jeff's note below.
If this process is not done then autosketch will not start because it is looking for the .dll files in the wrong place.
What was not tested
I've only tested existing .skf files to alter them - tried snaps, rotation and text so far - so more complex stuff will have to wait for testing.

AutoSketch 7 will not execute after installation because it is not able to find the directory containing some of its dependencies. To manually fix it, run regedit and navigate to:
Look for the PATH value. Edit it and add a semicolon (;) at the end followed by:
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared
Close regedit. AutoSketch should now start normally.
