What works

  • typing text
  • syntax highlight, changing language mode forsyntax highlight
  • understands the settings in the ini file copied from its windows twin
  • saving changed settings when explicitly requested via menu
  • file name/path selection dialog for saving files
  • file name/path selection dialog for opening files

What does not

  • Saving a file via GUI: app crashes after selecting the destination file name/path. file contents are saved, however (in my test case - don't rely on it).
  • Opening a file via GUI: app crashes after selecting source file name/path.
  • Opening a file via CLI: app crasheson startup when passing a filename as single first parameter on command line. (on windows: opens that file)

Error logs are included in Bug #28939.

Additional Comments

The "Notepad2 4.2.25 Setup (x86)" fails with "An error occurred. The installation has not been completed." but I never needed that on windows anyway, because I install it as the readme says: "Just put a copy of Notepad2.exe and Notepad2.ini to any directory on your computer."
