What works

Note: Set WINE's Windows version to 95/98/ME (see What Does Not Work)

  • Installation
  • Add and Subtract section (Math On The Rolling Range).
  • Multiplication section (Mini-Rocket Math).
  • Time section (Time After Time).
  • Spelling section (Doodle Challenge).
  • Fraction section (Fractions Arcade).
  • Create the Story section (Andy's Scrapbook).
  • Music section (Sonic Arranger MK. II).
  • World Geography section (Earth Builder): Mostly OK, but font didn't display properly, made it very difficult to read.
  • Workbook section (Andy's Book of Brain Teasers): Displayable, but print button didn't show up.
  • Help File.
  • Credits Screen.
  • Launcher: Usable, but window didn't repaint properly.
  • Disney Demos: OK, but there was no fade-in effect before the demo played.

What does not

  • Fonts on World Geography section: it should display a 14-segment-display font, but it falls back to system's font in WINE.
  • Printing on Workbook section: print button didn't show up at all, which rendered this section useless.
This section also crashed with WINE's Windows version 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Seven/2008R2 and above.
  • Screen repainting on Launcher screen.
  • Fading-in effect of Disney's Demo screen.
  • Uninstallation: the uninstaller terminated every time it reached 'Folder items', with this message on the console:

X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
Serial number of failed request: 2442
Current serial number in output stream: 2539

Additional Comments

The game bundled with QuickTime 4.1.2 (4.1.1.28), which itself installed fine, and could play a sample movie. Tested with Radeon HD 4670 graphics with fglrx driver, Intel HDA/Realtek ALC880 audio with ALSA driver. Using WINE audio settings: ALSA, 44100Hz, 16bit, Full hardware acceleration. This game seems to made with Macromedia Director, as the game's executable metadata stated that it was Macromedia Director Player 7.0.2.85, and there was a "Made with Macromedia" logo on game's credit screen. The game was completely broken on WINE 1.3.28 (to be precise, broken on WINE 1.3.27-107-g94ae743)
