The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Pretty much the whole game! Had some minor difficulties getting it working initially (see below) but when the game is running, it runs almost flawlessly; certainly nothing cumbersome that interferes with gameplay.
Console commands works great.
Installation process was a *little* funky -- the dialog boxes looked weird, but it appears to have worked correctly. Installing DirectX 10 first might have remedied that. DX10 installation fixed most of the initial probs I had. WINE version is actually 1.3.28.
What does not
Ok, it took me about an hour to get the game to work with sound. For whatever reason, alternating between "Windows 7" and "Windows XP" seems to reset the sound system or something, re-allowing sound to work. It is fortunately obvious from the starting screen if sound is going to work. Occasionally, I have to reboot before the sound works in Wine. I suspect this is actually a Pulseaudio integration problem. Installing DirectX 10 from the disc *helped* in the process, as did removing the intro video as others have done. I have not been able to remap any keys -- it doesn't seem to be interpreting my keypresses correctly during the re-map config screen. So I just use default. VERY RARELY the sound will cut out during play and I'll have to reboot before it will work again. I've played it nearly constantly over the past two weeks and it's only happened twice, whereas the "switching windows modes" thing I've had to do 5 or 6 times.
What was not tested
I really wish I could test this on a windows installation as well (having a hard time setting up a dual boot with my current box) so that I could compare how well my video card / CPU perform on windows native -- I have an NVidia GTX 550Ti with 2 GB DDR5 ram in it (and 8 GB of system RAM) and I have to run it at 800x600 with some settings turned down and it STILL occasionally runs choppy. It *might* be the AMD Phenom II 6x cpu (sorta regretting not going Intel now :/), since I have read that the game is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. (Oblivion does run more smoothly than this)
Overall, I am very happy with how it works. It responds well enough that I can use the combat system effectively. I wish the graphics could be set a little higher, but as I mentioned earlier I suspect that might be a hardware deficiency, not wine. Also, I am using Wine 1.3.28, which is not listed.

To fix crackling and choppy sound with Pulseaudio:
Possible fix 0:
run in some terminal:
while true; do pasuspender sleep 0.02; sleep 60; done
This finally prevents buffer underruns and the sound is perfect then.
Possible fix 1:
Make sure your realtime kit (rt-kit) is installed and functional so it can assign pulseaudio realtime priority. The kernel config CONFIG_RT_GROUP_SCHED needs to be off for this (see here).
Possible fix 2:
Setting SndQueueMax to 15 (default is 10), see here:
If you cannot see underwater (water is solid green):
Edit SkyrimPrefs.ini in your 'My Games\Skyrim' directory and in the [Imagespace] section set bDoDepthOfField=0 and iRadialBlurLevel=0
This is a game bug, not a Wine issue!
Stuck at main screen
Some mods change the fonts in Skyrim and sometimes that ends in wine not showing up the menu of Skyrim. Simple fix is to remove fontconfig.txt in Data/Interface.Crashes, texture bugs etc..
Remember, this is a Bethesda game, a few bugs happen for Windows users too, so blaming wine might not be justified. Please leave comments and bug reports, especially if things that used to work suddenly break.
