What works

HRD logbook works perfectly, actually faster than when running under W10 on the same machine (a ThinkPad T430). This is still my favourite logbook after 10+ yrs...

HRD works and connects smoothly to my K3

DM780 works (didn't fully test it, as I do CW only)

What does not

see comctl32 library under installation notes

Additional Comments

Installation notes:

1) create a 32bit WINEPREFIX with: WINEARCH=win32 wineboot

2) run winetricks jet40 mdac28 mfc42 corefonts comctl32

to install the proper DLLs

3) optional: copy  consolas fonts into /home/user/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts/

4) From a Windows install, export the HKLM\Software\ODBC branch of the registry to a *.reg file, import it with: wine regedit

5) override Wine's odbccp32.dll and odbc32.dll with the native DLLs (use winecfg, you may copy the files from a working Xp install)

6) if you need to change the date format, run: wine regedit.exe and change

sShortDate in 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International' to dd/MM/yyyy

7) to run HRD:

you need to belong to group 'dialout', run:

rm /home/user/.wine/dosdevices/com1

ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1

There is a minor quirk with comctl32:

If you choose 'builtin' in winecfg, the file dialogs in ADIF import/export work, but the look of the columns in the logbook is less than optimal.

If you choose 'native', columns look ok but file dialogs won't work and the program crashes...
