Installation tips: Create the "bottle": WINEARCH=win32 winecfg Make sure to install these packages using winetricks: -d3dx11_43 -dotnet20 -dotnet30sp1 -dotnet35 -dotnet35sp1 -xact_jun2010 Install using the Tribes Ascend Installer. It should succeed and launch the download and install the update patches. If you need to launch the game again, you can use the icons on the desktop, or "HiRezLauncherUI.exe" (It'll scold you for not using the icon, but it works)

Installing compctl32 improves "smoothness" of the launcher.
But I'm still unable to login.

I tried copying over a successful install from Windows and running TribesAscend.exe directly (skipping the launcher), but it fails to run, looking for DX11 dlls - d3dx11_43, X3DAudio1_7, XPAOFX1_5. This happens copying an up to date install from Windows 7 or Windows XP.
As a side note I also tried to run the game in VirtualBox, but it doesn't run because Virtualbox doesn't support Shader Model 3.0 yet.

1.3.32 Blocker w/ work around: bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28975
Attempting to install on the "c:" drive still yields a "Failed to start the Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service" error. Which ends with a complete un-install of the application due to the error. This is probably due to the fact that the "service" is a .NET application.
I am currently copying a VM based install to Linux to see if a workaround is possible.

While keeping the "failed" dialog open, I attempted to start the Required Service anyway:
jason@homer:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Hi-Rez Studios$ wine net start HiPatchService
The Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service service is starting.
Service request timeout
jason@homer:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Hi-Rez Studios$
Thus, it appears as tho the service will never run.
This service is required in order to run the launcher and install the real game.
Continuing the quest to attempt to run the game from a Migration.

WineTricks:
d3dx11_43

Running the TribesAscent.exe file caused the following error:
"Failed to find default engine .ini file to retrieve My Documents subdirectory to use. Force quitting."
Searching the windows machine, I didn't find any .ini files, nor was there any Registry settings.
