The game works perfect with Blloming and Shadows not clicked in
What does not
There is a severe stuttering espcially on large maps such as the main worlds. Starting areas are not as bad, the stuttering ( NOT lag ) happens twice a minute and are about 2 seconds long. On Main world maps the stuttering is abnormally large, goes on for few seconds and happens atleast 10 a minute, in some area it can go on for half a minute if I am unlucky.
What was not tested
I am pretty sure I tested everything I could think off.
Patch added to the 1.4 wine source. http://bugs.winehq.org/process_bug.cgi is the patch I am talking about. Tried it to 1.5 but of course there is no difference since that source does not have such changes that would affect the game in any way. DirectX 9_36 is used, but have tried with ALL versions of DirectX through Winetricks. MSV 2008 have been added and tried without it, works same with or without. Virtal window is added with screen resolution set to 1440*900 but have tried other resolutions as well and they will work as long as there is a virtual window loaded. In game you can of course change your resolution . Tried to close of the sound, and to put the graphics to lowest but no changes, Graphics are now on max except shadows and Blooming that is off. Stuttering is just and just bareble when you play a lone, PvP works a bit better, but its not doable since you end up dying Due to Stuttering.

1) Ensure that git is installed:
sudo apt-get install git
sudo yum install git
2) Get a copy of the wine source:
git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git cd wine-git
3) Get a copy of the patch:
wget -O KUSER_SHARED_DATA http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40435
4) Make sure that you have the requirements to compile wine:
Check out this link for 64 bit systems. You may want to only build the 32bit version to simplify things:
5) Apply the patch:
cat KUSER_SHARED_DATA | patch -p1
6) Build wine:
See Bug 29168 for more details.
- Change to the Loading Screen directory.
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Electronic\ Arts/BioWare/Star\ Wars\ -\ The\ Old\ Republic/swtor/retailclient/LoadingScreens/
- Rename the loading screens
mv LoadingScreen.jpg LoadingScreen.jpg.bak
mv LoadingIconAnim.dds LoadingIconAnim.dds.bak
At this point you will have a blank screen loading the server list, and people have seen long pauses while try waiting for the server list to load.
