General single-player gameplay, menus and configuration, saving and loading, etc.
What does not
Multiplayer or any other online features (which require LIVE)
What was not tested
I only went a bit into the game so far to determine that it works, it's possible (but unlikely) that later segments will reveal bugs.
Requires xliveless (see "HOWTO remove GFWL" below). You must set some custom launch options (right click the game in Steam, under Properties) or the game will be /very/ slow. Use at least "-norestrictions -nomemrestrict" . If at any point you manage to get the game into a setting that won't launch, use -windowed or -safemode. The game is normally configured only to use XBox 360 controllers (how obnoxious). I don't know whether it works out-of-the-box with these controllers under wine, but with a small hack it's possible to use other controllers, and I've verified that this works. The hack is here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=379477 .

Games for Windows - LIVE does not work under Wine. GFWL components will crash any game that use the service. The only thing to do about it is to cut XLive out using XLiveLess Patch.
1) Download the latest XLiveLess patch from here.
2) Unpack xlive.dll into the game folder.
XLive is out and the game launch is unobstructed. Please note that from now on the online play via GFWL is disabled so as to prevent cheating.
