What works

After further testing with more modern versions of both Wine and Ubuntu, it seems everything, so far, is working. The previous sound event issues are apparently resolved. Printing now works.

What does not

I haven't figured out how to print to linux printer instances instead of physical printers. (such as to PDF or PS virtual printers, or custom instances that add watermarks or other post-processing) This could simply be a Wine issue and I doubt it is application specific to what I am testing.

The application itself is poorly designed and apparently relies on lots of full-screen windows which don't behave well under Wine. Many of them seem to assume a screen size instead of respecting the native size of my desktop, or even the emulated desktop size under wine. As such, some buttons and controls are off-screen with no scrolling ability. It might even be that the app is reading the size of my desktop and not considering the launcher and panel. (which it would have no way to know about since it is a Windows app) 'Full screen' might need to be adjusted in Wine to read what realestate is available to apps minus panel chrome rather than reporting the full monitor resolution.

What was not tested

I have not yet tested using the serial port barcode scanners. I have used them with mixed results through VirtualBox, so they should work at least as well.

Additional Comments

Until I can find a solution to the window size issues, I don't consider this better than Bronze. Useable in most cases, but some normal functions (like Purchase Order screen) might be difficult. Also, the app is REALLY slow to both launch and operate compared to a VirtualBox install. There can be significant lags and hangups in between menu selections or other mouse events when a new window/pop-up needs to be opened. This is also a show stopper to Silver status.
