The controller mapper seems to have an issue where the POV hat isn't shown in the test window in the top right and pressing a button won't automatically map your controls. However, manually mapping controls works and the controller works fine in-game.

winetricks xvid, installing lav codecs, ffdshow codecs, etc was tried but still videos didn't play. In fact, installing ffdshow just made the game crash immediately.
"sudo apt install gstreamer1.0-plugins-base:i386 gstreamer1.0-plugins-good:i386 gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad:i386" will get rid of the gstreamer error spam but it won't make the videos play.
"winetricks d3dcompiler_42 d3dcompiler_43" fixes stage corruption issues in "forest of king cruel" and possibly other stages.
