What works
The Way Things Works installer (but it froze when finished copying file).
What does not
QuickTime installer: it terminated immediately after it popped up.
The Way Things Work itself: on starting, it warned about an absence of QuickTime, and that it was running on 16 color or less.
When clicked OK, it displayed splash screen and crashed with unhandled page fault.
Workarounds
What was not tested

Accessing website links.

Additional Comments
The Way Things Work itself seems to be a Win16 application (the main executable was 16-bit and it supports Windows 3.1) It also depends on QuickTime 2.1.1.57 16-bit (bundled), which failed to install as mentioned. Tested with WINE's Windows version 3.1/95/98/XP Using ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics (fglrx driver) and Intel HDA/Realtek ALC880 audio (ALSA) with WINE's winealsa.drv WINE installed without GStreamer, OpenCL, XInput2 and OSS support.
