What works

  • Installation and uninstallation
  • Intro videos
  • Scenario editor
  • Single-player gameplay (both campaigns and standard games)
  • Audio

What does not

  • Changing the resolution for the first time causes the game to crash. However, subsequent attempts work successfully without any issues.
  • Minimizing the game and then restoring it causes the game display to freeze and the mouse leaves behind glitchy trails.

The following command was used to work around the DirectMusic bug:

winetricks directmusic

HowTo / Notes

(Updated 2015-04-20)

Needs winetricks directmusic, or it will crash on start.

When running from a terminal, cd to the program directory to run it (or use wine start /unix) or it will crash on start.

Mouse is unresponsive (bug 13351)

This may not be a Wine bug, as the problem has been reported by Windows users, too. The workaround in Linux is to use xinput to change your acceleration profile. In a terminal, run

and take note of the ID of your mouse. Then run

     xinput set-prop mouse-ID 'Device Accel Profile' 6

If your mouse still moves too slowly, run:

xinput set-prop mouse-ID 'Device Accel Velocity Scaling' 100

Since this affects mouse acceleration on your whole system, not just the game, you will probably want to change it back after exiting the game:

     xinput set-prop mouse-ID 'Device Accel Profile' 0
